Life is constantly changing. Our school is a living proof of this. 100 years ago, Väimela Põllutöökool started its activities in Väimela manor, where students were woken up at 4 o’clock in the morning to lead them to the cattle shed and fields. Today, we find our students in modern laboratories, machine rooms, teaching kitchens.

The changes have also been reflected in the name of the school. There are alumni who fondly think back to Väimela Näidissohvoostenikum, Võru Tööstusteknikum, Võru Adult High School or now Võrumaa Vocational Education Center. Each name represents its era – creation, growth, accession or progress.

On 01.09.2023, we took a step forward again. The name Võrumaa Vocational Education Center, created 24 years ago by the merger of two vocational schools, was too narrow for us.

Ah, how? First, adult general education students joined us three years ago. If previously the school path took them to the Võru Adult High School, from 2020 they will be part of the school family of Võrumaa Vocational Education Center. General education students make up a good quarter of our student body. Secondly, for more than 10 years, our school has been operating a competence center for woodworking and furniture production, whose goal is to penetrate the entrepreneurship of the field with knowledge and technologies. TSENTER plays a significant role in supporting the development of regional entrepreneurship, their work in our area is not a side activity, but a supporting direction in the implementation of the mission of our school. And finally, in addition to vocational and general education students, every year we also offer more than half a thousand people the opportunity to upgrade themselves in training and cooperate with general education, vocational and higher education schools.

We have reached a new era and we can welcome you to Võrumaa Education and Technology Center. In addition to the name of Võrumaa Education and Technology Center, the short name EWERS is also used from today.
